Stock Market Today Wednesday 28 May 2025 | The downturn in the stock market continues. Today, the market has started with weakness once again. The Sensex opened at 81,457 with a decline of 94 points. The Nifty opened stronger at 24,832 with an increase of 6 points. The Bank Nifty opened at 55,328, down by 24 points.
However, a significant rise was observed in the sectoral index today. With the exception of the FMCG index, a bullish trend was evident in almost all indices. The FMCG sector experienced a decline of over 1 percent today.
American markets
There was a strong rally in the American markets on Tuesday as the crisis of imposing tariffs on the European Union was alleviated. This provided significant relief to investors, with the Dow Jones experiencing a remarkable surge of 750 points. The Nasdaq also saw an increase of 450 points.
This uptrend followed four consecutive days of decline, bringing a sigh of relief to the markets. However, Dow futures currently appear sluggish. In terms of Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei rose by 225 points while the GIFT Nifty remained flat around 24,850.
